Since my wife and I first started coming to Franklin and Macon County NC in the mid 1990’s we noticed the charm of Franklin and the surrounding areas. We liked it so much, after a 5-year assignment in Norway and returning to the USA we chose to make the town of Franklin NC “our hometown”. One thing in particular stood out in the early years of our Franklin NC visits and we find it has an even greater focus today. That particular thing is; the way we see our nations heroes treated, respected and honored within the Franklin and Macon County NC region.
Our Veterans gave so much, yet asked for so little in return through their years of serving our nation, to keep it free and safe from harm by deploying to so many foreign lands and fighting for what is right and just. The price of freedom is high and we know this as some Veterans gave all. I’m not a Veteran myself, but have a long list of family and close friends who are. It is so very touching to my wife and I to see how our family and close friends as with all Vets, are now honored in the place we call home, Franklin NC.
Today, I’d like to share a few of these things which say a lot about the values of our hometown and its people.
